Every year
Sao Bras de Alportel, usually the last two days of July and
the First of August, celebrates with a festival all of its
own. People from all over the district converge on the town
and celebrate Food, Crafts, Music, Dance and Arts. This is
a great chance to discover the genuine Algarve!
During
the festival there are plenty of opportunities to experience
the tastes and the the colours of the local culture with a
grand open air dinner with Food, Wine Entertainment and Dancing
late into the night.
Food specialities
are available to taste and to buy with speciality sticky sweets,
local sausages and delicious breads. Various
drinks
are also displayed and yes, you can taste and buy too including
many variations of Arguardente.
Horse enthusiasts
will marvel at the displays of horsemanship and there are
displays organised open to the public.
Being so
close to the Alentejo, it would not be a complete festival
of the hills without some presence from this
area
and there are many examples of Food, Drinks and art and crafts
on display which demonstrate the rich variations that can
be found in this part of Portugal.
Above all,
it is a great excuse each year for Families and friends to
gather and celebrate their culture.
